Medalist Mindset & Personal Coaching

For Young Athletes & Families

Lessons from the track for the next generation.

Olympic tools for young athletes, students, and the families who support them.

I spent over a decade competing at the highest level three Olympic Games, a world record, and a lifetime of lessons about pressure, patience, and showing up. This is where I share that journey with young athletes, students, and the parents, coaches, and schools walking alongside them.

About me

A bit about me

I'm a 3x Olympian, Olympic and World bronze medalist, and the first American woman to medal in the Olympic 1500m. I'm also an Emmy-winning broadcaster, an author, and a mother. Fifteen years of elite competition taught me that real growth isn't about winning every race. It's about staying disciplined, competing with integrity, and investing in the people who show up for you along the way.

Sound familiar?

If you're raising a young athlete, some of this might feel familiar:

  • Watching them take a tough loss hard, and not quite knowing what to say afterward

  • Wanting them to build confidence and drive without it tipping into burnout

  • Helping them settle their nerves before a big game, meet, or test

  • Wishing they had real tools for staying focused and resilient not just “try harder”

What is Medalist Mindset?

Medalist Mindset is the framework behind my own career, built through years of competing under pressure and continuing to show up through setbacks and change. Here, I'm translating it for young athletes, students, and the families and schools supporting them no matter their age or level. With Medalist Mindset, we focus on practical tools for building discipline, resilience, and confidence, on the field and off it.

What makes this different

There's no shortage of people handing out motivational advice. A few things set this apart:

  • Lived, not borrowed. I've actually earned an Olympic podium. This isn't secondhand theory, it's what got me there.

  • A real framework, not just a pep talk. Medalist Mindset comes down to five practical key: Goals, Foundations, Mindset, Routine, and Team. These are the same concepts I teach in keynotes for teams at Abbott, Microsoft, and Strava, now built for young athletes and their families.

  • Already proven with real families. This isn't brand new it's grown out of Imagining More, the youth program I've run since 2012, with real feedback from real campers.

  • I see it from both sides. I'm raising two kids of my own, so I'm not coaching from the outside.

Two ways to work with me

Two ways to bring Medalist Mindset to your community

This work takes two forms: a talk for your school or team, and one-on-one time for athletes and parents who want more personal guidance.

1. Medalist Mindset in Schools
Bring me into your school, team, or program for a talk built around the Medalist Mindset framework. I share real lessons from Olympic competition, translated into tools students can use in the classroom, on the field, and beyond. Built for assemblies, team talks, and student leadership programs. This can be delivered as a one off keynote or a multi-part workshop series.

2. Personal Consultations & Training
One-on-one time with me whether that's a mindset consultation for an athlete working through a tough season (or a parent looking for guidance), or hands-on training if you're getting ready for a race or a season. We start with a free 15-minute call to figure out what you need and see if it's the right fit, then go from there.

Who this is for

  • Young athletes and student competitors of any age working on their mindset, on and off the field

  • Parents supporting their kids through pressure, setbacks, and growth

  • Schools and coaches building a culture of resilience and integrity in their programs

What you'll find here

  • Reflections and lessons from my own journey

  • Practical tools for handling pressure, setbacks, and long-term growth

  • Real answers to real questions from young athletes and parents

What campers are saying

Rooted in something bigger

This work builds on Imagining More, the nonprofit I co-founded in 2012 to empower youth through sports in the San Francisco Bay Area.
