I wanted to let you know about a race I have coming up. On October 25 at 9am I will be racing the 5k at the LA Cancer Challenge, which supports Pancreatic Cancer Research. (As a disclaimer, I am in the middle of my break phase, which means I haven't run a step in a couple weeks and am not sure how fit I will be, but this is a cause very close to my heart.) I will be racing for Team Tyler, in support of my friend Tyler Noesen, who is a former Cal runner and is currently in his 3rd year fighting pancreatic cancer.
Tyler is one of the sweetest people I know and he is a huge inspiration to me. Only weeks before the World Championships in Berlin, Tyler said on his blog, ‘Remember, if there are things you really want to do, get out there and do them. You never know what may happen and someday you may not be able to accomplish them. Now is the time". This call to action inspired me to race with my whole heart and thus accomplish my dream of winning a medal at Worlds. I feel fortunate to have a chance to join Tyler and all the Pancreatic Cancer survivors in their fight to cure cancer.
If you are in the LA area on Sun, Oct 25, please join me at the LA Cancer Challenge in West LA at the VA Grounds. If you want to donate to Team Tyler, click here: DONATE TO TEAM TYLER
